Test your working knowledge of the Italian Conditional Tense
Try to translate the following into Italian using the conditional tense when appropriate. You would like me to do what? Are you kidding? I would if I could but I can't so I won't unless of course you really think that I should and then maybe I will tell him. But then I really can't, so to talk as if I could and would is not the best thing to do. We all know how hard it is to think that you should try to do something that you never thought you could do or even would do. At one time I would have thought that I could have but by the time I would have I no longer thought that I could have so I didn't tell him. I wouldn't lie but should I really tell the truth when it is not asked for? Could you speak to somebody about something that would be devastating for them to hear? Is it right that somebody should have believed so long just to have me tell them it was all a lie. Ok you are right, I could have told him, I should have told him and I would have told him but I fear what he will think. Would he believe me? Could he believe me? Should he believe me? Who knows. All I know is I really should stop spending so much money to protect a lie. It is time to talk to him. I should tell him and I will tell him! I will say Dad, Santa isn't real. :(
